How many copies of 451 do you need?

One of my new inquires is how does winning the hugo and or nebula effect sales?. I have a cool new spread sheet that can get the current rank data from Amazon for all the winners. I have learned a lot and I am really amazed about a couple of things. First of all, sales rank varies an amazing amount every minute. In one day several titles swing 20,000 places. Good for Jules Verne but an amazing amount of variability for your average product. Most books have a stdev in the 10,000s! Second, the recent Hugo and Nebula winner, "Paladin of Souls" appears to have not been benefited by the awards. It has fallen from 24,291 place to 26,427 over the last 6 months. So what are the top books and what appears to drive their sales? The second highest is "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" which has clearly received a rise from the release marketing for the next Potter as it rose from 2597 place to 322 most sold book on Amazon over the last 6 months. But #1 is an enigma, Fahrenheit 451. It is currently the 155 most sold book on Amazon. Its stdev over the last week is a tight 16! It is being marketed in its 50th anniversary re-release and got a retro Hugo last August but that still does not explain why this is so hot. I would be interested to know if you know anyone who is reading or bought 451 lately. Also what is your theory on why 451 is the top selling award winner. Here is the link to the current chart of all the data I am using.

I think you have to take into account that some people may be using it as fuel.
